Brand Designer (Freelance)

We're seeking a freelance brand designer with at least 3 years experience in a leading design studio, agency or in-house team. You've helped create brands and visual identities for organizations in sectors like technology hardware, software, AI, wellness, automotive and mobility, or robotics. You'll naturally have deep knowledge of design theory, color, typography, photography, illustration approaches, and other core fundamentals of visual communication, as well as have a keen eye for detail and a drive for perfection. You know what it takes to create award-winning work!

Core responsibilities:

  • Create brand visual identity concepts and systems.
  • Create color palettes, type systems, layouts and photography concepts.
  • Design brand assets in Illustrator and Figma like logos, icons, and graphics, and ready-to-use marketing assets.
  • Collaborate with and support creative directors, design leads, strategists, developers, writers and motion designers.
  • Help develop guidelines for client-side designers and production companies.

What we'd like to see:

  • An online portfolio with examples showing your work for relevant brands (and your role in it).
  • Creativity and thoughtfulness with progressive design for different clients/projects.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to excellence is essential.
  • Experience working in a high quality professional design studio, agency or in-house team.
  • Expertise with Illustrator, Photoshop and Figma is a must.
  • Bonus points for InDesign, After Effects and generative coding skills.
  • A degree or diploma from a leading design school or university is preferred.
  • North American timezone residence. We're based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
